In 1850 a D.G. Ostrom wrote a letter from along the Sacramento River, Mourie Hill, further described as 5 miles from the City (did not say which city). He wrote the letter to a Joseph Devore and in it he mentioned a William Ostrom (which I do not know if it was his son or brother. I realize the description he gave is a little off. According to the letter he was a freight hauler as he stated he took a load to Marysville which was 55 miles from the City.and that he had no hills to climb, Any help on this D.G. Ostrom and and area in which he is talking about would be greatfully appreciated.
