    1. [GOLDRUSH] CA-GOLDRUSH "Most Wanted" Web Site Counter- Fixed 30 Dec. 1999

    3. The CA-GOLDRUSH Most Wanted web page counter broke (hmmm) and has been reset to start with the day the pages were revamped (today). I guess it's as good as any. :-) Not sure how valuable counters are anyway but it's fixed. Happy New Year! 3. To my knowledge there is no CADI for 1871-1880 = only CADI is 1905-1995 but if you can find some county index I would be interested to learn about it. The most help I've ever found is to discover an entry in the NDGW which has a death date listed that is pre-1905. 1. [GOLDRUSH] CA-GOLDRUSH "Most Wanted" Web Site - Updated 29 Dec. 1999
    2. Yvonne O. Bowers
    3. The CA-GOLDRUSH Most Wanted web page has (finally) been updated. My apologies for those who waited for their entries to get posted. The list had grown to 5 web pages and was getting a little tough to schlep through (searching) so I rearranged it alphabetically by surname. For the existing entries, the first surname listed in your subject line is how your entry to sorted. Please review your entries and email me with any corrections. Also, remember to let me know if your email address changes. At each update, the index page will display "new" icons on the homepage as well as the surname pages. I hope you like it and find it easier to manage. Please visit at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~yvonne/CAGOLDRUSH/goldrushdigest.html and see if your elusive Forty Niner is there! Comments most welcome. 3. LuzE, Maybe you could find out something about your family at this site... The San Francisco Call Database Index to Available Years:1869, 1875-1884, 1885, 1886, 1887, 1888, 1889 http://www.feefhs.org/fdb2/sfcalli.html Or check the on-line index to the San Francisco CALL. The web site is as follows: URL = http://feefhs.org/ Go to the web portal index and type in the surname you are interested in and ask for a search. This is a private data base put together by Jim F. in Sacramento. Good stuff!!!!! 3. CANEVADA is actually a list for Nevada County in California, right next to Nevada... I am like you though, my mining ancestors seemed to travel back and forth...finding it hard to stay in one place very long... From Nevada County CA to Virginia City Nevada to Butte MT to Lead South Dakota. Those miners got around! Any ever run across any TREWEEKS? or Treweeke or Treweeks or Treweege or Trewick. It was spelled all those ways! Judy Hazen in Colorado

    3. Dear Sandra: Thanks for your response. The only mention of Adelaide is from the Ione Cemetery list of Coombs buried there, and it gives her dates as 1838-1907. Also spotted a Cora Coombs 1866-1929 with no mention of any family relationship(s). I have not been able to get to the FHC for many months to look at the 1900 census since learning of these possible Coombs relatives. Think our FHC (Nevada City) is closed until 2nd week of Jan 2000, but I'll try calling tomorrow (30 Dec) to see if the 1900 Amador County census is still on file up there. Thanks for your help! 1. [GOLDRUSH] LISTMOM: VIRUS NOTICE
    2. Yvonne O. Bowers
    3. Folks, I am breaking my (and Rootsweb's) rule about posting virus notices. The reason is because a new strain of virus makes it look like the message was sent from a rootsweb list (or other address). I want to be sure all of you know rootsweb is a safe place to post. Viruses come in attachments and attachments CANNOT be posted to rootsweb lists. Here's how the virus works (courtesy of fellow listowner, W. David Samuelsen): Once infected, the worm is set to reply to EVERY MESSAGE that's in INBOX of the subscriber, meaning if the message you posted as long ago as even a year to a list and still in that INBOX, you get the infected attached message as if it came from the list. (it showed up in one message that was posted over a month earlier to a list). It also morphs to make it look like you were the sender or somebody else instead of the infected subscriber (such as the mailing list name). To date names of attachments that had been reported are: party.exe, b*boy.exe, casper.exe, faster.exe, pirate.exe There is an URL embedded in the message http://stuart.messagemates.com/index.html in large letters. Then there is the attachment (the one I got was pirate.exe). I received this virus from someone on SOCAL-L (although I use a Mac and couldn't open an .exe file anyway) but it's been reported on all lists and I've had notices from several of you. Many of you are infected and are unwittingly perpetuating the virus by opening the attachment. The message here is simple: DO NOT OPEN ATTACHMENTS. Run your virus software. Check our antivirus software mfrs. website for updates. Please do NOT discuss this on the list(s). Email me if you have questions or visit the Symantec web site at http://www.symantec.com. 3. Dear Abbie, Thank you very much for your emails on this elusive John MURRAY. I have check through all the census that are on line but have not had any success and would greatly appreciate your look-ups for him in California. On re-reading my original email I may not have made myself 100% clear. I am researching this man for a modemless friend and I am from, Melbourne, Australia and this is where John MURRAY eventually married. I have no evidence he married/had children in USA. From the evidence I have it would appear that he left England and probably arrived in New York, and from there eventually made his way to San Francisco and then Australia. To have an American Seaman's Certificate stating he was born in New York he would either have had to falsify his documentation, but may have also become an American Citizen. I have searched all the available sites (that I know of) for any evidence of a vessel "B....St. Mary" leaving San Francisco for Port Phillip in 1855. The Agent's name was J.J. Southgate and I have found that they were Commercial Merchants in Pacific Street, San Francisco in 1852, were at Pacific & Davis in the 1853 City Directory, and shown on the 1857 Assessors List as Southgate & Mitchell. Thank you for your offer of assistance it is greatly appreciated. If you need any info. from Australia please let me know, and in the meantime have a very happy Christmas and New Year. >From a warm and sunny Melbourne, Australia Regards, Mary of Melbourne Researching, FOSTER, Coventry >Aust - PRITCHARD,Coventry>Aust GEOFFREY,Bloomsbury, Middlesex>Aust - ORCHARD, Warminster, Wiltshire>Aust STUART,Aberdeen, >Aust - EDWARDS,England>Aust GREATZ,NSW>Aust - PFITZNER, Prussia>Aust WILLIAMS,CUNNINGHAM, HUMPHREYS,MULVAHILL >Aust ,
