    1. [GOLDRUSH] Woolley/Jamerson/Stanton
    2. CC
    3. Hi List- Im looking for information on a William Woolley age 35 in 1950 census, with wife Emeline same age and daughters MaryAnn 15 and Fanny 4. Also looking for info on the following Jamersons: Luke, Lucy, Leo and Coy Jamerson. Someone said that one of the Jamersons may have written a book about how dangerous the goldrush days were....????? Both of these families had some connection to Otis Stanton age 22 in 1850 census. Otis is my line, his wife was a sister to Lucy Jamerson wife of Leo or Luke. Has anyone heard of these people? Also believe that Edwin and Edward Stanton, younger cousins to Otis ended up living in San Francisco area. Thanks for any suggestions or help!! -Charmaine Campany POBox 376, Croghan, NY 13327 http://www.rootsweb.com/~nylewis

    1. Forest Hill Cemeteries
    2. Here is the note I sent about the 4 cemeteries, 2 at Iowa Hill, nearest Grizzly Flat and 2 at Forest Hill, nearest Bath. I can give fuller references, but for anyone not close to SF or Sacramento, these films might just do the job. The 055 and 084 films are of the 1940 DAR listings for the 4; the 169 film is from the Gen Soc of Utah, 1991. This information is from Kot and Thompson, California Cemetery Inscription Sources, 1994, Indices Publ, 228 Sandy Neck Way, Vallejo CA 94591. _____________________________________________________________________ For Forest Hill, the LDS/FHC near you can get films FHL 0558289 and 0844411; also 1697470:3. For Iowa Hill, FHL films 0558289 and 0844411. I've forgotten what people and mine names you were looking for. I get to Sutro about once a month. Give me the names to look for and I'll see what I can do. At Iowa Hill there are actually 2 cems, Protestant and Catholic, across the road from one another. Those 2 and the 2 at Forest Hill I mentioned, are the only ones I know of in the area.

    1. Grizzly Flat/Bath
    2. On the map (USGS Foresthill 7.5' Quad) it appears that Bath is about 4 miles SE of Grizzly Flat. Historic Spots in California, 1966, says (p273) that Grizzly Flat is at the head of Grizzly Canyon and one of the old towns within 5 miles of Iowa Hill. Grizzly Flat is about 2 miles SE of Iowa Hill. Historic Spots also(p274) says Bath is about a mile NE of Foresthill , then a mile south. A road goes south of the 1 mile NE site, but the road which is called Bath Road on the county map goes ENE of the "1 mile NE" site. I guess I don't really know quite where Bath was. "Forest fires have devastated the area , and only the diggings and a few old locust trees remain at Bath". If you get to the area, the "1 mile NE" site is probably where the CDF fire station is. Historic Spots says Bath was at one of the "dry gulches debouching into Volcano Canyon". Grizzly Canyon heads into Shirtail Canyon and Volcano Canyon into the Middle Fork of the American River. There are two cemeteries related to Foresthill, one just at the SE edge of town, the other, nearly a mile NE of town and just about across the highway from the CDF fire station. For Iowa Hill, the cemetery is just north of town.

    1. [GOLDRUSH] RE: Lone Mountain Cemetery
    2. I have had several requests for lookups in the Lone Mountain Cemetery booklet so I am going to list the names mentioned there. It is obvious the names listed are only a small fraction of those buried there. They are mostly names of some historical interest such as the editor of the first newspaper and Mark Twain's niece, Jennie Clemens. According to the booklet, this cemetery is still active (1997) so I am also listing the address and phone #. Lone Mountain Cemetery 919 Beverly Drive Carson City, NV 89706 (702) 887-2111 The names are not in any alphabetical order and for this purpose, I will list just the last names.
