I've been trying for years to find someone who may have some information regarding G. D. (Green Don) BYERS. I guess Green is a surname. Based on census data he was born about 1837 in SC. I do not know the names of his parents or if he had siblings. I do know he was in Gainesville, AR in 1860. He is listed as a lawyer in the census. He was a Captain in the CSA Army and died of wounds 18 July 1863 in a Union hospital in Memphis, TN. I was led to believe that Green Don may be descended from David Byers who settled in York Co., SC. David married (1) Margaret Carson and (2) Sarah Slavin. Any help will be appreciated. Phil Di Matteo
