I don't >know when or where. Has anyone heard this story? The Byers name shows up in English records and there seems to be land holders in the lower southeast section of Scotland also.. I think about the 1600's or 1500's bye the invasion of the Viking period .. as they made settlements along the lower area of Scotland from what I remember of my history... From my research in Rowan CO., N.C. I have ran into the Byer residing there about 1750's... the spelling varies also ... but I also no that there were Germans settlers in the region coming down from Pennsylvania to settle there in Rowan Co.. I gleam the name out of works of Jo Lynn White who has published many reference material for Rowan County... over the years... Jerry byers in Kansas
