    3. Nothing we have found so far leads us to the US. We can't even get gmother Mary BYERS BEATTIE sorted out. She was likely born circa 1888 and married David BEATTIE early 1900s in the borders area and died likely in Carlisle between 1911 and 1915 after her third son was born. Have had help to produce some family name lists from census 1851 and census 1881 but now need to look at 1891. Good luck with your Andrew Howard Byers and Green Don Byers... will keep your e-mail address for future reference. Family lore is that 11 or 13 brothers came to America from Scotland. I don't know when or where. Has anyone heard this story? The person I am searching for is Green Don Byers. Based on the 1860 Greene Co., AR census he was born in SC about 1837. G. D. had one son born after G. D. died. G. D. was a Capt. in the CSA army. He was shot on 4 July 1863 and died from the wounds 18 July 1863 in a Union hospital in Memphis. We can't find where he was buried. We don't know where in SC he was born (although we have heard York Co mentioned) or who his parents were. I have tried York Co and SC in general with no feed back. I suspect his mother's name was Green. I went to the Green list for help. Again, no feed back. So I am trying this list again. Any help will be appreciated. Phil Di Matteo
