This is a repeat for new members and for anyone who may have learned something I need to know since I last wrote. Green Don Byers b. abt 1837, d 18 Jul 1863 in Union Hosp, Memphis TN. Listed in the Greene Co., AR 1860 census as G. D. BIERS, 23 years old, attorney at law, $1500 total worth and born in SC. Joined the CSA Army 28 June 1862, made a Capt. Married Nancy Jane ELLIS in Gainesville, Greene Co., AR. A son was born in Nov 1863, four months after G. D. Byers was killed. G. D. may have been born out of wedlock. I have his army record from the NARA. The record does not say where he was born or where he is buried. Family lore says he was born in York Co., TN. Any help in identifying G. D.
