My great grandfather was GREEN Don Byers born about 1837 in SC. I base this data on the 1860 Greene Co., AR census. He was a Capt. in the CSA Army and was killed from wounds received at the Battle of Helena, AR. He married Nancy Jane ELLIS and she had only one son before the Capt died. We have not been able to find his parents or place of birth. I am convinced that his first name is a family name. If you have any family in AR or SC maybe there is a connection.
