Hello everyone. All my BYERS hail from Dumfriesshire, in south west Scotland. The information I have so far on my direct Byers' line, dating back from the 1850s, is - James BYERS, born in Wamphray 1829, and who married Janet BELL in Kirkpatrick Fleming in 1855 and died in Westerkirk in 1879. His father, also James BYERS, was born in Kirkmichael in 1802, married Esther RAE and died in Annan in 1856. After this, it does start to get a bit hazier. The next generation back is John BYERS, who married Jane (Jean) McGILL (born c.1780 in Kirkmichael). John BYERS may have been born in Hoddam - this is one of the leads I have been chasing up for some years now. Is any of the foregoing familiar to anyone? Thank you...Neil
