    3. An article published by the Washington County (Virginia) Historical Society mentions the Byars family of Pennsylvania: "According to the memoirs of Congressman John Rhea, copies of which are in possession of Rhea Anderson of Blountville, Tenn., the Dysart, the Rhea and the Byars families were related in Scotland and Ireland. When Rev. Joseph Rhea, cousin of Col. Dysart, came to America in 1769 - I quote from the memoirs of Congressman John Rhea - 'He determined to pass over to America. Having prepared for the same, he bid farewell to his connections and friends, and with his wife and seven children, the youngest two years old, he embarked on the Brig, Capt. Paul, commander, bound for Philadelphia, and on September 27, 1769, the Brig hove up anchor and sailed.' 'After a long passage the Brig arrived in the Delaware River, and came safe to Philadelphia, previous to the freezing of winter, all in good health, and Fanny Dysart, one of the family, was with them.' 'In Philadelphia they lived with Mathew Byars, a relation of Joseph Rhea. Byars invited him and his family to his home.' 'They went to his hourse and stayed there while they tarried in Philadelphia.'
