Byers was a lawyer, 23 years old in Green County, AR based on the 1860 census. He joined the confederate army and died on 18 July 1863 of wounds from the Battle of Helena, AR. His only child, a son, was born 4 months after GD'S death. We do not know if GD had siblings, the names of his parents or where in SC GD was born. Any help will be appreciated.
