Contrary to what I have read, I have been unable to locate either William or Robert BYERS on a ship list. Was informed that ship was Friendship abt. 1734 to Philadelphia - no record. Also realized that if Wm's daughter, Sarah BYERS was born abt. 1720 in N. Ireland, and David BYERS abt. 1727 in Pennsylvania, how could they be arriving in 1734. Does anyone have additional info? I just got back from a family reunion and heard that G. D. Byers descended from one of 11 or 13 brothers that came from Scotland/England. Is there any BYERS out there that may have heard of such a story? Based on the 1860 Greene Co., AR census my G. D. Byers was born in SC about 1837. Listed in the Greene Co., AR 1860 census as G. D. BIERS, 23 years old, attorney at law, $1500 total worth and born in SC. Joined the CSA Army 28 June 1862, made a Capt. Married Nancy Jane ELLIS in Gainesville, Greene Co., AR. A son was born in Nov 1863, four months after G. D. Byers was killed. G. D. may have been born out of wedlock. I have his army record from the NARA. The record does not say where he was born or where he is buried. Family lore says he was born in York Co., TN. Any help in identifying G. D.
