    3. I have spent all my waking hours since my return trying to contact Earthlink and Netscape. Netscape is turning off my address book on Jan 15 2001 and has given me directions which give me the error message of "Customizer" not available to me. That is first base and I have been unable to even move to shortstop. I feel like the radio operator on the Titanic. Both Earthlink and Netscape were in a refusing mode when I tried to access my e-mail (85 messages) you sent when I was on my beautiful trip to Denver, CO. I spent hours just trying to get online. So I wish you well and hope that one day we can again communicate as we have in the past. Sincerely, Barbara Wilson Young

    2. Hi Everyone. I'm glad Sally Rowe wrote to the list. It pushed me into writing again. I am seeking the parents of Green Don BYERS. Based on the 1960 Greene County, AR sensus he was born in SC about 1837 (age in on census 23). I can only speculate that Green was a family name and that the Byers family moved to AR or nearby TN. I can't imagine a 23 year old traveling from SC to Gainesville, AR on his own. I ask myself, Why not some bigger city in SC or Memphis or Little Rock. Family lore is that his father came to America from Scotland with several brothers. They don't know where they landed or where they went. Green Don Byers joined the Confederate army in 1862 and was killed in 1863. No one knows where he is buried except not in Gainesville. Any clues or information will be appreciated. Phil Di Matteo

    3. Hi everyone. The only Byers of mine I know of, also came from Dumfriesshire, Scotland. Our Frances Byers, born in 1812, had a brother John born 12 Aug 1816 in Wrought Mill, Westkirk, Dumfriesshire, and a sister Christian born 1817. Their father was George but we don't know much about him. Frances married George JOHNSTON (originally from Carlisle, Cumberland, England) in South Australia on 23 Feb 1848, and although we don't have an emigration date yet, we do know that John Byers emigrated to South Australia in 1839 on the "Fairfield". His wife was Margaret Carruthers. Christian married John Hutton in 1851 in South Australia, and then William Balls in 1857. We have further information about George and Fanny's descendants, but nothing more on the others. Any assistance would be appreciated, and any connections would be wonderful. Thanks in advance. 2. Neil Byers
    3. Hello everyone. All my BYERS hail from Dumfriesshire, in south west Scotland. The information I have so far on my direct Byers' line, dating back from the 1850s, is - James BYERS, born in Wamphray 1829, and who married Janet BELL in Kirkpatrick Fleming in 1855 and died in Westerkirk in 1879. His father, also James BYERS, was born in Kirkmichael in 1802, married Esther RAE and died in Annan in 1856. After this, it does start to get a bit hazier. The next generation back is John BYERS, who married Jane (Jean) McGILL (born c.1780 in Kirkmichael). John BYERS may have been born in Hoddam - this is one of the leads I have been chasing up for some years now. John's parents I have as James BYERS and Helen GARDEN, but this, so far, is as far back as I have managed to trace on this side of my family. Is any of the foregoing familiar to anyone? Thank you...Neil
