SHARON MARY BYERS HAWLEY — Sharon Mary Cucura Byers of Hawley, formerly of Gouldsboro, died unexpectedly on Monday, April 8, 2002, at Mercy Hospital, Scranton. She was 53. Her husband of 16 years, George W. Byers, survives. Daughter of the late Josephine Czachor and Joseph Cucura, she was born in Peckville. She was a graduate of North Pocono High School, was of the Roman Catholic faith and enjoyed hiking, fishing and kayaking. Also surviving are a son, Joseph of Plymouth Meeting; a step daughter, Jodi Byers of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands; a step son, Christopher Byers of Austin TX; and two sisters, Maryrose Cucura of Wyoming, and Deborah Carone of Gouldsboro. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 11 at 11:00 a.m. by Rev. William B. Healey, pastor of Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church at Teeters’ East Chapel, 505 Church Street, Hawley. Visitation will be Wednesday, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Interment, Green Gates Cemetery, Hawley. Memorial contributions may be made to the Hawley Ambulance and Rescue Co., 219 River Street, Hawley 18428; or to the Hawley Fire Dept., P.O. Box 61, Hawley, PA 18428.
