He is a sterling Republican, having voted for Fremont in 1856, and for every Republican president since. I've been trying for years to find someone who may have some information regarding G. D. (Green Don) BYERS. I guess Green is a surname. Based on census data he was born about 1837 in SC. I do not know the names of his parents or if he had siblings. I do know he was in Gainesville, AR in 1860. He is listed as a lawyer in the census. He was a Captain in the CSA Army and died of wounds 18 July 1863 in a Union hospital in Memphis, TN. I was led to believe that Green Don may be descended from David Byers who settled in York Co., SC. David married (1) Margaret Carson and (2) Sarah Slavin. Any help will be appreciated. Phil Di Matteo

William Byers that married Sarah Jane Russell was born about 1810. On his tombstone it is listed as 1816 the stone carver got it wrong and it was never fixed. I have a picture of the stone. Sarah Jane Russell was the daughter of Barbara Milnster Russell. Sarah Jane and her sister Narcissa Ann were born out of wedlock, James Russell husband of Barbara died in 1812, Narcissa Ann was born 1815 and Sarah Jane was born 1814-19. Children of William and Sarah are Hardy John, James Simeon, my 3th g grandfather) Samuel Gerome, David Augustus, Thomas C., Narcissa Jane, William Pinkney. David McCarson did indeed deed land to William Byers in 1812. This was most likely to William born 1782 and his father-in-law, and grandpa to the above children. Any thoughts, most welcome.
