He was my grandfather. He emigrated to Canada about 1909, married Isabella Jane Smith in Toronto, June 1, 1911. My father was their only son. Isabella died in 1918, my father went in to an orphanage, taken in by a foster family in 1924, and I do not know what became of Charles. I would like to know about him. Thank you for any information you can provide. Jean in Calgary, Alberta Canada.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/UFH.2ACEB/945.2 Message Board Post: I recieved a copy of your recent email via rootsweb.Your reference to a book by Henry Harrison Byers interests me. In 1947 Harry Everett Wilson (similarity??) published a book on the Byers family in Indiana. As the Indiana family goes to Jacob Beyer, (b.12/27/1779, Penn.) son of Philipp Boyer (Germany/Baltimore/Penn) I am interested in the possibility of connection here. Jacob's son's traveled west dropping off progeny in Western PA, Ohio, Illinois and finally (finally assumed, although who knows for sure) Indiana. Can you tell me a bit more about your book? My family is beautifully traced through a book publised in 2000 by C.C. & Joan Beyers of Los Angeles. It is 670 pages of very well researched material but does not deal at all with the Ohio branch as it follows only Jacob's line. But Jacob had 7 brothers, lost in the genealogical wilderness. Perhaps there is some connection here? Many thanks, Ken Byers San Francisco

I don't have any information on him except a nice picture of him, his wife and two children circa 1917. an little info (which you probably have already) The picture was found in a box at my grandmothers. All I know is that his grandmother Nell Evaline Tharp was a aunt to my grandmother Della Tharp Thomas. I also have a picture of Nell Evaline date unknown. I would love to find a descendent of him so I can give the picture to them. Have you had any luck tracking anyone down? Kathy Carr Kracht carrcentral.org

    1. Byers DNA Project Results
    2. Most of my early genealogy was based on the Association of American Boyers. I had always wonder how accurate it was, and was frustrated by not being able to trace my ancestors back to their origins in Europe. However, with the aid of DNA testing in might be possible to my genealogy and find the family roots. Recently, I had a male relative take the 37 marker test and was able to compare it with a 3rd cousin twice removed. The match was perfect! Now I can state with a high degree of certainty that we are definitely related, and the work of the American Boyer Association is accurate to the point were our family lines cross. Our common ancestor is our fourth great-grandfather (b. abt 1760, d 1826)! I would like to encourage the other Byers to join our search. According to the American Boyers, our family line is Chapter 27 (BA). See volume III, 7th edition. You can help us move our family back to its European origins. If you have any questions, please contact me. CA Byers
