He sold land in Yohogania Co, VA (now Beaver Co, PA but the county no longer exists)in 1779 and moved to the Kentucky Co of VA, settling in what is now Larue Co before moving on to Grayson County. I am looking for the parents of Green Don Byers born about 1837 in SC (based on 1860 census data). G. D. was a confederate captain. Mortally wounded at the Battle of Helena, AR on 4 July 1863. He was taken to a Union hospital in Memphis, where he died 18 July, 1863. Family lore is that several brothers (as many as 11) all came to America from Scotland.
