I have from Stanton Byers down to me. I know nothing of him or his family. I would really like to find out. Here is my e-mail carriebeaver@yahoo.com. I come from the branch of Stanton Byers who no one knew about. My grandfather was kept as a secret, I belive that Stanton was married to another lady at the time my grandfather was born. For this I'm sorry and I'm not tring to interfear in anyones life but I would like to know my family history. My grandfather past away a long time ago in a car accident when he was 37 or 38, but his name is not the same as Byers he took my Great Grandmothers name, I guess because of the situation. So Stanton is/was my Great Grandfather. Please e-mail me and we can swap info. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: BTeran Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.byers/1473/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This one eludes me. I have searched high and low for any information on the marrige of Margaret Minium to William Byers. She had 4 children by him before marrying Ledyard Parker. Margaret gave up 3 of the 4 children to the Minium family to raise. In the 1850 census, one can see a baby named Benjamin Franklin Parker ( but he was not a "Parker." My suspicion is that William died around 1848 and Margaret had to send her children packing to the Minium relations ( some of whom went to Illinois.) My great-grandfather was James William Byers. He was born 1844. Prior to his birth was Eli Byers and Julian Byers. After James William, Benjamin was born. I can prove that Margaret was married to Mr. Parker but I canont find where she married William Byers. On some entries on other sites, it was noted that Margaret was indeed married to William Byers but I can find no one to verify that nor which record is available to prove it. I hope someone knows of this information. Barbara at barbzwi! re@elp.rr.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: DByers0724 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.byers/1469/mb.ashx Message Board Post: A list of the Conawago Colony Baptism ["Baptisms by Domine Cozine," who then became pastor.] the list contains the name Jores Byer and Anna Catriena Sa(smuged poss Saaun) which is believed to be Sams. A daughter Anna Caterina Byer was baptised on 13 Nov 1785. There are many names which appear in this list such as Banta, Demaree and others that lead me to believe this is my line commonly known as George Frederick Byers and Catharine Sams. One thing that puzzles me is that Anna (daughter baptised) is not listed in the 1907 Arch Byers genealogy and no other children of the family are baptized. But I still feel strongly that these are one in the same. Donald Byers Lubbock Texas Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: GloriaG100 Surnames: Byers, Johnson, Sherwood, Bonney, Bradford Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.byers/723.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hi. I am interested in this Franklin, too. I see a Franklin Byers, age 2, in the 1880 census of Eaton County, Michigan. He lived with his parents, Albert and Eureka Byers. I'm wondering if the 1920 Census Franklin is the same, because Eureka was originally from Portage County, OH, just over the border from Crawford County, PA. Also, the 1920 census shows Albert Byers living with a different wife, Sybella, in Crawford County. The two of them are buried in a Portage County, OH cemetery, so I'm thinking Albert may be Franklin's father, and the same Albert who was earlier married to Eureka (my great-grandparents through their son, Clyde, who was born after Franklin, in 1889.) Eureka's father was named Erastus Franklin (E.F.) Johnson from Portage Co., and bought a farm in Eaton Co., MI, so there were family connections to Michigan early on. Eureka was married three times, with Albert being her first husband, but I haven't been able to find a divorce record. A third chil! d was born to Albert and Eureka, Nellie M., and she and Clyde show up living with their mother and her husband, Mr. Lewis, in the Portage County, Ohio census for 1910, I believe, but there is no Franklin. It's looks like Franklin went with Albert when he and Eureka divorced, and Clyde (my grandfather) and Nellie went with their mother. I can't find Nellie because her name would have changed if she married, so I'm trying to find Franklin and his living descendants. My grandfather named one of his sons Frank, but refused to tell my grandmother or his children anything about his background except that he was born in Ohio. The family of Erastus Franklin Johnson has several Mayflower ancestors documented at the Mayflower Society. Let me know what you find.
