    2. My Great-Great Grandmother was Sarah Elizabeth Byars, b. in Ga in 1848. Married to William H. Bottoms in Dawson Co. GA in 1860. William was killed in the Civil War, and Sarah Elizabeth Byars Bottoms then married a Turner. They moved to Alabama. I don't know of any Acton's in the line though. Arlene AHamptonResearch@aol.com

    1. [Byars] Byers/Byars/Acton
    2. Marg & Gord Hulbert
    3. Hello From Canada: My cousin, Margaret Taylor, and I are researching the ACTON family from Chester/Leicester. A number of ACTONs immigrated to Montreal, QC, in the mid 1800's. Our Elizabeth ACTON, b. 1832, was daughter of Samuel ACTON, b. cir 1804, and possibly Sarah BYERS/BYARS, b. cir 1806. We believe Elizabeth could have had a brother, Samuel, c. 1836, Leicester and another brother Arthur, d. 1867, Montreal, QC. Elizabeth did have a brother, Robert, b. 1848, with the same parents Samuel and Sarah. If anyone has run across the name ACTON in their research, please get in touch with us. Regards, Gord Hulbert 11 Sierra Morena Gardens S.W. Calgary, AB, T3H 3P4 (403)240-4636 hulbertg@cadvision.com

    1. Byars in Tennessee
    2. Arline Sudberry
    3. Some time back, I joined the list in hopes to find a connection to my Tennessee Windrow family. I have the following names in my ancestry. These are in my direct line back: John Byars "Bias" Windrow b. 1807 John "Johnnie" Brice/Bias Windrow (Or this might have been Byars also) The parents of my first John Byars Windrow were John Windrow b. VA and Zilpha Thomson b. NC. I'm searching for a connection from the Thomson, or the Antony (Anthony) line to the Byars line. I believe the first John was named for someone's maiden name. Does anyone have a Thomson, Antony, or Windrow connected to your Byars? Arline >I am looking for information on Byars from kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, >Alabama, would appreciate your help.

    1. Byars Middle Name
    2. Arline Sudberry
    3. I joined the list some time back in hopes that I would see a connection to my Windrow family. The early ones seem to like to use Byars as a middle name. Some examples are: John Byars "Bias" Windrow b. Jan. 2, 1807 Rutherford Co. TN was the son of John Windrow b. NC and Zelpha Thompson b. VA (I assume he was nicknamed Bias for Byars). "Bias" was the grandson of Richard and Millender Antony both b. in Va and died in Rutherford Co. TN. Then his grandson was named John Bias Windrow. He was called Johnny. Probably named Bias for his grandfather's nickname. So it seems that the Byars name had some importance for the family. If anyone runs across a Byars/Windrow or Byars/Thompson or Byars/Antony connection please let me know. Thanks! Arline

    3. the Byars I need are fairly recent: The one I need the most is William Byars b. Jun 1870 in Miss. and wed Margaret Elizabeth Caldwell who was b. in Aug.1873 in Calhoun co. Miss. They had three children I know of James A. 1897 , Andy Mae1898, and Osie H.1900. These folks lived in Miss. and I don't think they left. I don't know, but guess he is related to William Cuton Butterfield Byars who is related further back in this family tree. He was b. 17 Jan.1834 in S.C. and d. 20 Feb.1926 in Calhoun Co.Miss. He wed Elizabeth Minerva" Eliza" McGuire who died in 1874 in Calhoun Co. Miss. and also to Susan Emma Patterson b. 1849 in ala. She was his 2nd wife. The only children I have for this William are Rosa L. , Wm. Randloph, John Raleigh, Joseph and an infant son. Any clues on Calhoun County Byars families are welcomed. susan Moochsw@aol.com wrote: > I have all the Byars information that I would like to share with anyone who > might be interested in doing their Byars Family Tree. 3. Pay Close attention to this! It happened yesterday! There is a worm circulating that comes in an attachment. When it gets into your computer it invades your Email and sends itself out as an Email from you or from someone that you have saved Email from with a subject line that appears in your saved mail. The best thing to do is not open any attachments without confirming with the person who sent it, that they really did send it. Some of the email says it comes from Rootsweb which it does not. I will never send an attachment to any maillist!. Nor to an individual without a separate Email first saying what I am sending and why first. Be careful about opening those Email cards! Protect yourself. - -------------------------- This info for the digest version part of the listmembers By the way the people who gets the digest versions of email lists , when yours comes in as attachments that is your own email handler doing that. It took me a long time to find out how that happened. The reason it doesnt' happen every digest is the size of the digest varies. If it is a certain lenght or longer it coverts to an attachment in your email handler. Susan in Texas Listmom I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

On the other two sides of the pillar... one side was blank. The other bore this passage of words: "Not dead but asleep Asleep in Jesus That dear friend on whom our happiness depends Farewell Father and Mother Fairwell for a while. We soon will meet you again on that other shore. Where we will never take the parting hand anymore. For we hope to meet you on the other shore." ---- Annaretta (FRANKLIN) BYARS has an obituary I have found on-line at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~iamadiso/obitsb.html (go to the very bottom of the page.. last one on the page) I do not have any reliable info on Annareta's parents. I suspect it might be a Benjamin FRANKLIN (1780-?) (not THE Benjamin Franklin) and his wife named Zipporah (~1799-?) but have not been able to verify anything other than conjecture) anyway... hello... Please contact me if anything here looks familier to you! Sincerely, Glenn Frank ============================================ http://home.earthlink.net/~glennfrank/familytree
