Calhoun County was carved out of Chickasaw County in the early 1800's. My GG grandfather was Joab Byars, his older brother was James Byars, but I don't think his name was Jesse James Byars. Both are buried in Macedonia Church Cemetary, near Calhoun City, Calhoun County, Mississippi. James Byars founded Macedonia Church in 1843. He was born in S.C. in 1795. To the best of my records, she was born in 1788 in N.C. William died in 1819 in Spartenburg S.C., where it seems most of their children were born. The name Walter Scott Byars does not ring a bell, but that doesn't mean anything. There are so many Byars names out there. One site on rootsweb that I have been looking at is in <worldconnect.genealogy.rootsweb.com> site. One of the family tree pages is <Dillard/Webster>, which has a lot of information on Byars family.
