I was talking with my mother about 6 or 7 months ago and was asking her if she remembered Grandma Mattie talking about any of the Byars.. She said the only one she really remembered hearing about was an Uncle Andy. Could that be Andrew J. or whatever his middle initial was? Just curious!

I found some info that says that Andrew's wife, Nancy, was born in GA. Didn't we decide from other information that Elizabeth's parents were born in AL? I can not keep all of this information straight. Ivan married Winney Jordan on June 10, 1838 in AL. Both of them were born in that state. Does that help us any????? Maybe???? They were in Chickasaw County in 1840 and 1860 and in Kemper County in 1850. Where is Kemper? I do not remember where that is connected to Chickasaw County. Time to go to bed!!! How is school going or are you finished?

The Canada Census Campaign needs the help of the genealogical community to further their efforts of getting amendments added to Bill S-13 or the bill defeated as the case maybe if the Gov't doesn't add the admendments, in order to facilatate the research of census records without restrictions. Canadian research will become far more difficult if this amendment to the Statistics Act goes through as presently worded. If you need further information Gordon A. Ran across your e-mail about Charles Byars and am interested in sharing information with you. John Byars and Elizabeth Glen are one set of my great grandparents. Sue Byars
Dear Raleigh, We probably have the common ancestors of John & Elizabeth Glen Byars that I just wrote about. I understand the problem you have about answering all the e-mail, certainly the Byars family is very numerous, our branch left Virginia or North Carolina, whichever it happened to be called at the time, about 1820 & went across Tennessee & Kentucky and settled in southern Illinois (Marion/Jefferson counties). They stayed there a very long time and there are still quite a large number of them there. I would be very interested in a national Byars family reunion if such is possible. We have a Byars of Marion Co, IL web site. If you are interested in further correspondence please write to me at CBLUGREEN@myfamily.com. Clarita
Hello Angela: I think that as you do more research, you will find hundreds out there researching Byars roots. My problem is that since I retired I don't have time to answer all the emails that I receive regarding Byars history. My name is Raleigh Byars and I am a 5th generation Byars(5th generation Byars from Calhoun County, Mississippi). My gggrandfather (Joab Byars) came to Calhoun County in the early 1800's from Spartenburg, SC and many still live there, I now live in Oxford, Mississippi. I would like to know anything about a National Byars reunion, if there has ever been one or if one is planned in near future. Raleigh
