    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QJH.2ACIB/291 Message Board Post: My name is David Byars and I have lived in Rome GA. since I was 32 hours old. I was born in Catoosa County in Ft. Oglethorpe at Tri-County Hospital. My mother had given me up for adoption before I was born on July 1, 1955. My mother was 34 years old when I was born. She lived in Blount County, Tennessee. She was a dental assistant and she was single. I never have met my biological mother. If she is still alive I would like to meet her and sit down and talk with her. I have tried internet pay sites to try and find her. If anyone knows of a Minnie Lorraine France Haney that lived in Blount County, Tennessee at that time or where she might live now, please contact me and let me know or contact her and let her know that her birth son would like to meet her. Upon her giving me up for adoption, family and children services, which is known now as DFCS, placed me in a foster home in Floyd County with Margaret Hilley Byars. She raised me and DFCS told her that since I had a visual im! pairment I would never be adopted they would give me her name of Byars. After registering for the draft and obtaining a social security number when I was 16 years old and having everything I have in my name as well as buying a house, then I found out that David Byars is not my legal name because DFCS did not go through the proper legal channels of changing my name. After numerous requests to DFCS about how my name was changed they could not tell me because they could no longer find any of my records. But they did tell me if I had an original birth certificate with my real name they could tell me. I have a feeling that they were just humoring me thinking I would never come up with the original birth certificate. After a few years of searching I finally got my original birth certificate of Haney with no first name; then I called DFCS several times telling them that I had my original birth certificate and they would never return my call after that. Needless to say I found out t! hat my name was not legally David Byars and because DFCS did not legal ly change my name to David Byars I had to go pay an attorney $650 to have my name changed from Haney to Byars to be legal so I can draw social security when I reach retirement and to have my house and contents in my legal name. Although I feel like Mrs. Byars was my mother, I still would like to meet my birth mother and talk to her. I know she would be around 84 now and may not still be alive, but if anyone knew her or of her I would like to talk to them also because I would like to know something about my birth mother and possibly the circumstances of my birth. You can contact me at david44_55@yahoo.com. Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you are a foster child or been adopted, you need to make sure your records are in order before you get up in years because I am still waiting on an updated birth certificate of my name now so that I can receive a state issued identification card because I cannot get a driver’s license due to a visual impairment.

Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/an/QJH.2ACIB/285 Message Board Post: After two years I am still searching for information on my grandfather, Walter Scott Byars, and his family. I do know that he was born in Hunt County, Texas in 1888 or 1889. At some point he moved to Mississippi, around Calhoun City and later over to Tallahatchie county at Tippo, Paynes, & Charleston. I have also found out that he had a sister that he was separated from when he moved to Mississippi, and I believe she lived in Alabama, but I do not know her name. My grandfather married my grandmother, Sadie Josephine Jenkins who was from Marks, Mississippi. I do know that he was married at least once before he married my grandmother. Any help would be appreciated.
