As always, for the rest, If you haven't already contributed, we hope to hear from you soon - the notes below may help ... ****** ****** ****** Apart from requests for the odd look up, or to see if anyone else is researching the same family, there are numerous topics - directly related to family history and the islands which make up pre 1974 Buteshire - which are open to List discussion. Topics such as civil registration & parish registers (or lack of - either/both registers and registration), non conformist churches (and their records), apprenticeships, how census were conducted, why some Buteshire towns/villages/farms prospered (or not), modes of travel , militia/ naval service, activities around the Islands i.e on the water, naming conventions, etc, etc, etc.- the possibilities are almost endless.
