    3. No new subscribers this week, however as always, if you haven't already contributed, we hope to hear from you soon. ****** ****** ****** There have been problems at RootsWeb over the past few weeks, including some with the query boards, however there have been no gatewayed posts lost from the Bute board - it's just a slow time of the year. One minor advantage of being a small list is that we seem to have missed out on the List problems that have been occurring ... a) mail for late 9th early 10th was not posted until late 11th early 12th, and b) there have been a number of multiple copies of single posts appearing on lists since that 9th/10th delay (duplicated by RootsWeb not the poster). ****** ****** ****** Regarding my post last week on "census mini-essays', Pat Jeffs wrote ... "There weren't any comments on the 1841 census but I have hopes that there may be some on the 1851. I am not transcribing it, but I have asked Bill McKinlay to keep a watch for them. My gg grandfather, John Palmer, was enumerating somewhere in Rothesay and he liked to add his personal bit. He enumerated in KKD in 1841 and I found the notice there--elementary statistical theorising--must run in the family! <smile> Once he became Burgh Registrar in 1855 John Palmer always had a note in The Buteman just after the new year summarising the b-m-d for the year past." ****** ****** ****** Feel free to join in and present your own items.
