    3. My ancestors were cleared off Arran in 1829 and came to Inverness Quebec on the ship the Caledonia. My ggg grandfather was Neil Macmillan and my ggg grandmother was Catherine Kerr. They lived in South Sannox with there children. I have had the opportunity to visit Arran twice. I went to Arran in Sept 2000 with my mom. I planned ahead, researching as much as I could about Arran and wrote to the Banner newspaper about my ancestors and my upcoming visit. I received several replies and even set a date to meet with Grace Small from the Heritage Museum. We had a great time while on Arran, visiting the cemetery and Church in Sannox, the standing Stones , the monument in Lamlash and talking with as many residences as possible. Everyone was very friendly. We did not have a car, used local transit and sometimes received a ride from locals and the mail truck. On my second visit I returned with my husband in May 2003, met up with Grace again and was pleased to see that there was a special section in the Museum about the clearances. We had a car this time, and made a few trips around the entire island, visiting the monument in Lamlash and seeing the standing stones again. We also climbed up to see where my ancestors ruins were in south Sannox( High Corrie). The island is so beautiful, the scenery is amazing, and I hope to return again someday. Heather
