    3. Hi Liz, One source that is often helpful are the monumental inscriptions for pre 1855 S.I. deaths - not always totally reliable but better than nothing. Alison Mitchell's "Bute and Arran monumental inscriptions pre 1855" for example, records the headstone of a couple that could well be the ones that your marriage enquiry refers to; Duncan Currie native of north Bute d. Kames 6.9.1900 88 w. Mary MacIntyre 19.12.1909 81 by family. (St. Michaels) Another possibility is there may have been an obit in the "Buteman." You may need to employ a researcher however to look up the newspaper archives at Colindale north of London.
