I hate to see Peter disappointed (!?), so, even though I haven't been to Bute since 2002, we leave on the 25th of May for 3 1/2 weeks in Scotland, the first week of which will be on Bute. Plans are in the works to exhibit my grandfather's photos of early Bute and the Bute (Mountain) Battery from World War One in the Bute Discovery Centre and/or the Bute Museum. Hopefully, The Buteman will help us out with a little public notice. Their publication of 2 of the photos with a little supporting text and the assistance of some fine local folks has enabled us to locate several descendants of the men of this uniquely Highland Artillery unit. Some good stories and further identifications of the people in these photos have ensued and I hope to add to them. I have plans to see a good many friends I met on my last trip and since. I'll report when we return in mid June. Does anybody out there have ancestors who served in either The Argyll & Bute Volunteer Artillery (pre-1908) or one of the batteries of the 4th Highland (Mountain) Brigade (The Argyll, The Bute or The Ross & Cromarty (Mountain) Batteries) from 1908 through The Great War and into the 1920's? Please let me know. Mike Morrison
