Hello Edward, In the Preface to the book: While the impressions of the Great War are still fresh in the memories of those who have lived through the eventful time, it seems fitting that some permanent record should be made of these impressions. It is also due to the memory of the men who have gone through the great ordeal, to preserve a record of their services, particularly of those who have made the supreme sacrifice--"They went forth to the battle and never came back." Knowing the greater number of the lads personally, this compilation has been a work of pleasure; but I regret that in all cases I did not succeed in obtaining as many particulars as I would have liked, so that where details are somewhat meagre, it is not due to lack of effort., THE AUTHOR [James C. Inglis] Invbercloy, Brodick, 29th March 1919 The Introduction to the books tells about the Island (Arran) during the war, then goes on to list the servicemen and women.....some with more detail than others. I have just done a search of Abebooks http://www.abebooks.co.uk/ and found that it was reprinted in 2002 and available from bookshops in Sussex and Surrey :-) There is also a better description of it.
