Welcome to Drew & Wendy Pryke, and to Chas Monk who have joined this week. If you haven't already contributed, we hope to hear from you soon. ****** ****** ****** Thanks to those who told us about their special dinner guest this week - just a reminder to the majority that there are still 2 1/2 weeks left in March - please don't all leave it until the last few days. For new subscribers this month's topic was "Who, out of all your Buteshire ancestors, would you invite to dinner today ?" That has expanded to "Who, out of all your Buteshire ancestors, would you invite to dinner, and when?" i.e. 'time travel' is permitted ! Linda's mention of the problem in Arran of bridging the gap between the early and late 1700's, reminds me that for subscribers with Arran roots, potential (non ancestral) dinner guests would be the Kilmory church officials from the 1761/2 period, when it is presumed a volume of the Kilmory Kirk Session records went missing - the particular volume started on or after 4 August 1749. There is a longer gap in the Kilmory registers which runs from about 1729 to again about 1762. It is perhaps not a coincidence that the death of the incumbent minister Mr Stewart (the father of Gershom Stewart, Minister of Kilbride) occurred in 1761 and the new minister (John Hamilton from Saddell) was not admitted until July 1762 ???? ****** ****** ****** Thanks also to Bill McKinlay for his update on the census project, specifically this week 1851. If you are thinking about assisting, but haven't taken the plunge, I endorse Bill's plea: " We are always looking for volunteers to help with this work so if anyone is in a position to help in this respect, I'd be delighted to hear from you." ****** ****** ****** Feel free to join in and present your own items.
