hello everyone is there a kind soul with access to the two census above? i am interested in the occupants of hillside, serpentine road, rothesay my g gf, andrew mcfarlan mcletchie was born there in 1854, and his brother john in 1856...and i think they then left the island by approx 1857 andrew's father's occupation was gardener, so i dont think that he could have lived in such a grand house, but more likely within the grounds? can anyone shed any light onto the relationship between my mcletchie's and the house owner? would a gardener be employed solely within hillside, or would he have another job elsewhere to earn more money? any leads or info is much appreciated cheers andrew
