Judi, Are there any HALL names associated with your CRAWFORDS? I have a very complicated collateral relationship involving Jane HALL CRAWFORD and Jane CRAWFORD HALL. Both married into my LINDSAY family. Jane CRAWFORD HALL married John McNAIR, from Ireland, in Victoria, Brunswick, Australia on 2 Dec 1867. Her father was Archibald HALL. John and Jane had several children, among them a James, an Agnes and a Maria, as well as a John, Jane and Archibald, named, I assume, for John McNAIR, Jane CRAWFORD HALL, and her father. There are 2 other names seemingly unrelated, naming pattern-wise: Alexander, Mary Ann STEVENSON (McNAIR) who died as infants in Australia. The McNAIRS moved back to Scotland by 1875. In the 1891 Census, a Lizzie THOMSON, 21, from Montrose, Forfar, was a boarder in John's home in Glasgow. By this time, Jane had died and John had a 2nd wife, Isabella, with whom he had a son, Samuel. I do not know Isabella's surname. Jane HALL CRAWFORD married Duncan James McCUNN on 11 Feb 1898. Her parents were Mark CRAWFORD and Mary CHALMERS. To further confuse the issue, Mark was first married to Margaret McLAREN, with whom he had an earlier daughter, born in 1873, also named Jane HALL, but who died. The cousin of mine to whom these people belong says there is a relationship between the two women, but he wasn't sure how closely related they were. Both were from Rothesay. I'm sure your head must be spinning here, but your names are the same names I have, just differently, so maybe there is a connection. (Maybe.)
