Hello again, Does anyone else have a link to Tighaghaoil? My ggg-grandparents John HILL, cottar, and Mary TAYLOR were living at Tighaghaoil in 1808 when their son Archibald was born. Tighaghaoil (also spelt Tighnagoigh) was part of the wider farmlands of Kilwhinleck and Miltoun. At this time the tenants of these lands are recorded as being a Robert SHARP and son, which suggests John Hill was a sub tenant of the Sharps. I'd be very pleased to hear from anyone who might have an interest in Tighaghaoil or Kilwhinleck around this time. Does anyone have any thoughts on why a cottar might have come to North Bute from Kintyre? It is possible that John Hill was a hand loom weaver, Madeleine Wales
