As an example, "Arran in the Eighteenth Century" by George Laidler. D.L. [Read 9th December 1930] was according to my source, published in 1935. It is slightly mis-titled, as the talk was restricted to the time covered by John Burrell's diary (1766 - 1782) when he was Commissioner to the Duke of Hamilton, however for Arran researchers, it expands on what is in Volume Two of the Book of Arran. Now for copyright reasons, I can't give the full text as I have done with other documents in the past, but I will in future issues pass on some relevant quotes (for the sake of those of you with Bute &/or Cumbrae roots, I'll try to select the generic examples). ****** ****** ****** Feel free to join in and present your own items.
