Trying to recollect long-ago chats with my grandmother I think they lived at Piperhall and that there were below stairs links with the big house, Mountstuart. Amongst their children was my grandmother, Euphemia BELL [B:1879 Kingarth, D:1975 Rothesay]. She married John CASSELS [B:18** Black Isle, D:1943 Millport], a policeman in Brodick, Arran and then the police sergeant in Millport. They had six children, the eldest of which was my mother Mary CASSELS [B:26 Jan 1900 Brodick, D:14 Mar 1978 Ramsgate, Kent]. In 1932 she married my father John CUNNINGHAM [B:13 Jul 1898 Millport, Cumbrae D:27 Aug 1987 Canterbury, Kent]. He was a seagoing Marconi Company radio officer [1916-1936] and then a BBC engineer [1936-1961]. I (another John CUNNINGHAM) was their only child [B:9 Oct 1933, Millport] and on 12 Oct 1963 married Margaret Dunn Fleming GOODWIN [B:29 Oct 1936 Glasgow]. I was a weapons engineer in the Royal Navy [1951-1988], but unfortunately never visited NZ! We have two children: yet another John CUNNINGHAM and Christine Airlie CUNNINGHAM. The other children of John CASSELS and Euphemia BELL were Bill [1902-1965] - policeman, Duncan [190*-c.1980] merchant seaman, John [190*-c.1935], Colin [191*-1976] hardware store, Anne [1918-1991] nursing matron. I have limited information on their marriages, careers and children. The dates mainly came from my father and are approximate. Im new to this genealogy game but hope this is understandable and of interest. John
