I am searching and hoping for any further information about or connections to this family though I've had no success to date. Thomas McNISH/McNEISH (b unknown date & place in Scotland m Jean NICOL/NICOLL bc1763 Paisley, on 12 June, 1790 Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland. Only 2 children known to me. Son, John McNEISH bap. 8 Aug.1799 Paisley - nothing else known Son, *Alexander McNEISH (occupations: weaver, and later a coal merchant) b 31 March, 1791 Paisley d 31 May, 1866 Isle of Arran, Buteshire, married c1821 in Paisley, Elizabeth LYLE b 27 Oct.1799 Paisley, d 19 July, 1868 Isle of Arran, Buteshire, d/o John LYLE and Margaret RODGER. Children of Alexander McNEISH & Elizabeth LYLE: i. Violet McNEISH b 24 Dec.1821 Paisley, m 25 Dec.1857 at Lamlash, Arran, Buteshire, Thomas KAY b 1824 Glasgow, Lanarkshire, who was until he retired from service a member of the Royal Navy. This couple were living Govan, Lanarkshire 1881 census & Glasgow, Lanarkshire 1891 census. 3 known children for them: Agnes KAY b1851 Ireland, James KAY b1858 Arran, Buteshire & Alexander McNeish KAY b 1860 Arran, Buteshire - all living with Violet and Thomas in 1881. ii. Thomas McNEISH b1823 Paisley, d Nov.1846 place uncertain, buried Arran, Buteshire. iii. James McNEISH b 25 Oct.1825 Paisley, d unknown date and place - nothing else known iv. Archibald McNEISH b 13 July, 1828 Paisley, d c1865 Australia (don't know area of Australia so haven't found death record or burial yet) - nothing else known v. John McNEISH b 30 May, 1830 Paisley, d c1852 Demerara (Georgetown) Guyana, South America - nothing else known vi. *Mary McNEISH b 6 Mar.1832 Paisley, d 12 Mar.1900 Greenock, Renfrewshire, m 7 June, 1861 at Lamlash, Arran, Buteshire George SMITH, Jr. b 11 Nov.1830 Arran, Buteshire, d 6 Sept.1907 Greenock, Renfrewshire. 4 children total for them: Margaret Cunningham SMITH b1862 Greenock, Renfrewshire, Elizabeth Lyle SMITH b1864 Greenock, Mary Anne SMITH b1868 Kilbride Parish, Arran, Buteshire, Alexander McNeish Smith b 1870 Greenock. vii.
