Hi, Anyone have any information on Barmore and/or Barmore Butt around 1770-1800. In case this topic is of interest to someone else this is what I have collected on the topic so far: In 1796, John Lamont is listed as being of Barmore Butt. The Rent Rolls do not list John Lamont as he was not a direct tenant of the estate. During the 1780s until 1798, Barmore was tenanted by Archibald MacConechy and his name is the only name recorded in the rent rolls in connection to Barmore. However an inventory of farmhouses prepared in 1782, shows that the North Butt of Barmore was occupied by a John Lamont who was a sub-tenant of MacConechy. The inventory shows that Lamont possessed a dwelling house and byre made from stone and clay which was roofed by thatch. The dimensions were 40 feet by 8 feet wide and there was also a thatched barn at the north east end of the dwelling house. Cheers, Sharon Hawkins
