Posted on: Buteshire Scotland Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/Scotland/Bute/411 Surname: McCurdy, Murray, McBride, Warner, Laughlin, Guthrie ------------------------- On chart one in "The Ancestral McCurdys", p. vii, Blanchard lists the refugee brothers, sons of Daniel, b. 1622, as: Petheric (of the "Cairn"), b. 1640 David William, unmar. John, went to America Daniel They sailed according to Blanchard (pp. 30-31) on a "bitterly cold day in the latter part of November 1666." to the Island of Rathlin, and the next day to the mainland of Ireland near Ballintoy. On page 40 he states: John McCurdy, "the Refugee," the fourth of the brothers, was born about 1646. He moved as a young man to America. There is no further trace of him or of any possible descendants. There is nothing definitely to indicate or point to the likelihood that he left any posterity. I suspect John Turk McCurdy is not Petheric of the Cairn's brother. He may be his grandson. On chart five, Blanchard lists: James McCurdy (eldest son of Petheric), b. 1668. m. Jerusha Murray | John, b. 1691; d. 1789. m. Lucretia McCurdy | 1. Archibald, m. Jennet Guthrie 2. John, went to America. m. Lizzie McBride 3. Daniel m. Sally Warner Per chart four, Lucretia McCurdy was a cousin of John's. Her line is: Daniel McCurdy (youngest son of Petheric) b. 1677, d. 1747. m. Margaret Laughlin | Patrick b. 1700, d. 1798 m. Mary Laughlin | "Aunt" Lucretia b. 1727, d. 1810 m. John, son of James and Jerusha. Reference: "The Ancestral McCurdys" by H.
