Hi Lynn As this maybe of use to others, I'm sending the answer to the list, it should beat the downtime ! First you need to be running Viewer 3 - I got mine (Version 3.02) from the Sydney LDS Mail Order office for A$10 +p&p - it is also available from Salt Lake City (US) and Birmingham (UK) for about the equivalent in US$ or GBP respectively. Ok, method: 1 Start Viewer 3 2 insert the Census Area Disk which covers the address you have. For "The Plan, Bute" example I used Scotland Highlands 3 when the standard enquiry form appears, select "Cancel" 4 click on "Search" 5 select "Neighbours - Advanced Query ..." 6 enter your keywords {read the Help screen first if you want to use OR, NOT, etc.} For "The Plan, Bute" example below I simply entered two keywords: plan bute lower case is fine - the space is interpreted as "and" - by chance this quickly gave just one hit - as sent to the list. I also used this method to quickly find where William Boag & Elizabeth were, this time by using three key words: william boag elizabeth - again by pure luck I had one hit, although the search took a little longer - result as sent to the list the second time. If I had had zero hits, then I would probably have tried: wi* boag eli* if still zero, I would have changed the area - but that another and more complicated story. To see the neighbours simply go to "View" and turn off "Matches - Advanced Query" - or use the short cut toggle: Shift & F9. Further searches can be done with or without the display of Neighbours by use of this toggle. regards Peter -----Original Message----- From: Lynn Prettyman <[email protected]> To: Peter Cook <[email protected]> Date: Wednesday, 21 February 2001 21:48 Subject: Re: Census- How did you do that? >Pete, I would like to know how to do what you just did.
