a feuar is the tenant of a feu, and a feu is the feudal tenure of land where the rent is paid in money or grain instead of by the performance of military service. Up until the recent past most land and houses in Scotland were held in feu ......... my parents although they owned their house also paid a feu ......... a token annual sum. So it does not follow that the land/property would not pass to Daniel's children. Since you know his date of death, it would certainly be worth finding out if he left a will. Irene
