I've been working on my husband's line and it doesn't contain many Butchers, BUT, for those who are interested I have a copy of the Gibbens-Butcher Genealogy, originally published @1895 and would be happy to look up Butchers from Wood Co., WV and their descendants for anyone who is interested - the time period is approx 1770- 1895. Joanne, The problem is with our Butchers in southern WV, we go back so far and it dead ends. My grandfather paid the Mormons to trace the tree several years ago and the said the last name was changed from Gatewood to Butcher during the civil war, but we can't find out anything else. Someone else I met who is in the family heard the same thing. We go back as far as Warrick Butcher then it just dies.
