Would love to share more info with you.

    3. Hi, My Burtcher's were also known as Butcher's on and off. Bartholomew, Sebastian, and Michael were German stonemason's that came to Ste. Genevieve County, MO in 1797. Bartholomew was married to Elizabeth (brother to Peter) Bloom who was from MD and died soon after they arrived in MO. Bartholomew died in 1802 at Mine La Motte which is right out of Ste. Genevieve. For Sebastian we have in early 1800's a Benjamin with wife Theodice living in his household. Benjamin and Theodice end up divorcing. There is also another Benjamin Butcher in Ste. Genevieve that marries Jane Preston who was also m. to a John Butcher. I am not sure if these Butcher's are connected to my Burtcher's. For Michael we have wife Margaret Hayden (who is also listed as Margaret Pepin/Haydel) who he divorces and he died in Kaskaskia Randolph Co Ill 1829. Michael's children are Michael Eugene, Margaret Catherine, and Belemus Augustus. Would like to hear from others that are connected in anyway with this line. Or anyone that had early Butcher's that were stonemasons. About a year ago I recieved an email from a man that said the first ILL State Court house was built by a Butcher of Knox Co area IN. This was around early 1820's. Sorry I don't have my notes right in front of me for exact dates. If my line of Burtcher's did not build this statehouse they may be related to the one that did and if they did build it they may have had ties with Butcher/Burtcher's in SW IN.
