I was looking at the 1856 January to March General Records Office Index of marriages and thought I might as well extract all the Butchers and put them on this list, just in case they were of any use to anyone. (Always check the original - as mistakes are often made during copying and some of the text is not very readable) The exact marriage date is not given in the index, you have to order the marriage certificate for that, but it at least tells us that the marriage was registered in Jan, Feb or March of 1856 and I assume that marriages are registered at the time of the event. Maybe someone can confirm that or not for me. The ~~ is my representation of a squiggly line that was on the original. This also raises the question in my mind as to whether I am wasting my time because someone may have already extracted the Butchers from the GRO indexes. Does anyone know if this is so or not?
