Alicia, I agree that your William Butcher (of Clinton Tp, Decatur Co IN) is descended from the George Butcher whose probate was in Decatur Co IN. I don't know anything about the George Butcher you say you correspond with. Do you think he might know about the two children Samuel and Hannah Butcher who belong to your younger William Butcher and my Deborah Jane Ray? Deborah is in the 1860 mortality schedule for Decatur Co IN which says she died with the ague, and your young William Butcher is listed with no wife and the two young children. Deborah was the younger sister of my James H. Ray who married MY William Butcher's (Fugit Tp Decatur Co IN) daughter Margaret R. Butcher in Decatur Co IN. Sure gets complicated, doesn't it?
