Posted on: BUTCHER Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/b/u/BUTCHER/queries/50 Surname: ------------------------- I have considerable information on Samuel Butcher who bought 1000 A.in Loudoun in the 1750's and his descendants spread out from there to the West including Wood Co. (W) VA. This Butcher came from Philadelphia Co., PA and is named in his father's will as having received his inheritance early and moved to Loudoun Co when the father, John Butcher d. in 1707 near Philadelphia. (PA Co. Wills, C/57-59) Will dated 25 Jun 1707; probated 1707. This is strong internal evidence in this will that John was Samuel's father. I have not traced Saumuel back further. Let me know if you want to exchange more. If you have edvidence of his (English?) origins of this family, I would be intensely interested. Regards, George Archer (garcher@bix.com)
