PAULSER BUTCHER: According to Mrs. Betty Butcher Topp, her ancestor Paulser Butcher, a Revolutionary soldier, came from a family in Germany. The surname was Anglicized from Metzger. Paulser's five or six brothers also served in the Revolutionary War, but their names are not on the Patriot list. 2. SAMUEL BUTCHER, Jr. According to the deeds and wills in Pennsylvania and (Loudoun County) Virginia, Samuel, Jr.'s father was Samuel, Butcher / Boutcher, Sr. Samuel, Sr. had a nephew named Samuel Boutcher, Jr., of PA, son of John Boutcher, Jr. who was the older brother of Samuel Boutcher, Sr. Both John, Jr. and Samuel, Sr. were sons of John Boutcher / Boucher, Sr. of Pennsylvania. Soldier Samuel Butcher, Jr. had an older brother named John Butcher. 3. WILLIAM BUTCHER At the writing, I cannot identify William. "William" is not a name of either the Paulser Butcher family or the John Boutcher/Boucher family. So, the three Butchers are three separate families. Regards, Jean
