    3. Hi, it has been awhile since our brickwall was posted so will repost. Am looking for any info on three brothers MICHAEL, BARTHOLOMEW, AND SEBASTIAN BURTCHER/BUTCHER/BURTSCHER and other spellings. They were stonemasons listed as German and came to Ste. Genevieve, MO in 1797. Possibly from MD and traveling with a PETER BLOOM whose sister Elizabeth was married to Bartholomew. Thanks in advance for any information on these brothers. 1. [BUTCHER] Simon Boucher
    2. jean boutcher
    3. SIMON BOUCHER, French Huguenot, sailed in 1658 to New Netherlands in the ship, "Gilded Beaver." Jacques Cousseau, merchant, who sailed on the same ship, paid the fare of Simon. Not much is known about Simon Boucher. The National Society DAR library has a book on Claverack (a town in New York). Simon is mentioned in it as a resident of Claverack. Based on a descendant S.E. Boucher's letter in 1903 to Burkhardt, compiler of "A Boucher Family", Simon Boucher is claimed -- prior to 1759 in Claverack, NY -- to have had two sons Pierre ("Peter") Boucher and Jacques ("James") Boucher. Based on www.ancestry.com, Simon's wife was Biddy Blayney, daughter of Owen Geoffrey Blayney and Olive Lazenby. They had three known children: Tim Boucher, Pierre ("Peter") Boucher, and Joanna Boucher. Joanna's husband was Charles Cliff. No vital records are provided. Jacques ("James") is not mentioned. Back to S.E. Boucher: In his letter, he claimed to Burkhardt that he was great-grandson of Anthony and had a cousin named N. F. Boucher of Bismarck, North Dakota, who knew much of the lineage. S.E. Boucher said in the letter as follows: 1. Simon 2. Pierre, prior to 1750 in Claverack, NY, son of Simon 3. Jacob, son of Pierre 4. Antoine (Anthony), son of Jacob 5. ? 6. Dr. Wilson Boucher / Poucher of Poughkeepsie, NY 7. S. E. Boucher Regards, Jean - ________________________________________________________________ YOU'RE PAYING TOO MUCH FOR THE INTERNET! Paulser's five or six brothers also served in the Revolutionary War, but their names are not on the Patriot list. 2. SAMUEL BUTCHER, Jr. According to the deeds and wills in Pennsylvania and (Loudoun County) Virginia, Samuel, Jr.'s father was Samuel, Butcher / Boutcher, Sr. Samuel, Sr. had a nephew named Samuel Boutcher, Jr., of PA, son of John Boutcher, Jr. who was the older brother of Samuel Boutcher, Sr. Both John, Jr. and Samuel, Sr. were sons of John Boutcher / Boucher, Sr. of Pennsylvania. Soldier Samuel Butcher, Jr. had an older brother named John Butcher. 3. WILLIAM BUTCHER At the writing, I cannot identify William. "William" is not a name of either the Paulser Butcher family or the John Boutcher/Boucher family. So, the three Butchers are three separate families. Regards, Jean

    1. [BUTCHER] Walton - Wharton
    2. jean boutcher
    3. David, Betty Allen, listowner of Vandergrift-L, says that the name in 'Vandergrift Appendix' in "History of King Family" was originally printed as "Ann Walton", but someone else crossed it out and wrote "Ann Wharton". Betty also says that the same source shows Jacob Vandergrift's sister married Joseph Walton. That explains why researchers get confused when a Walton and a Wharton were married into Folkert Vandergrift's children, My question is: Who were Ann Wharton's parents? Was she connected with Charles Wharton whose name appears in John Boutcher's deed dated March 27, 1788? Charles Wharton died before March 27, 1788, and Ann Wharton was born in 1770. (See the deed below:) Since the surname "Wharton" rang a bell, I re-checked a deed (Montgomery Co. PA Deeds, Vol. 4 (LDS Micro- film 0021566); pp. 137-138 (March 27, 1788) : John Boutcher and wife Rachel to Thomas Palmer. Yes, there appears a Wharton surname on the 19th line in the deed. The line reads as follows: "by Lands of Jonathan Comly & of Charles Wharton, deceased North forty eight Degrees...by Joseph Boutcher's ...Benjamin Boutcher deceased." Names of other people appearing in the deed are as follows: 1. John Boutcher of the Manor Moreland, Phila. Co. Pa. 2. Rachel, wife of above 3. Joseph Boutcher 4. Benjamin Boutcher, deceased 5. Vandergrift, son of William Bloomfield Vandergrift ] - ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ * According to my research, Enos Boutcher was married 1840 to Elinor Vandergrift (b. 1817) in Bucks Co. Elinor (Enos's wife) was daughter of William Bloomfield Vandergrift (1761-1854) and Christina Sanders (1785-1854). William was son of Jacob (1727-1800), son of Jacob b.1696-, 1771, son of Nicholas, son of Emigrant Jacob Leendertszen Van der Grist. The Vandergrift family was residents of Bensalem, Bucks Co. PA while the Boutcher people mentioned in John Boutcher's deed were in Moreland, Mont.Co. PA. Bensalem and Moreland are near Philadelphia. * and ** -- it is VERY interesting to note that on the www. familysearch.org, Enos Boutcher's and Elinor Boutcher's surname was spelled 'BUTCHER". It is evident that both Boutcher and Butcher were interchangeable at that time.
