Father, Robert Charles Brandow; Grandfather, William Russel Brandow, Great Grandfather, George Brandow. These Brandows lived in Illinois at time of death. It is believed that the Brandows came from Pennsylvania to Ohio to Illinois. George may have been born away from Illinois. William and Robert and their families were born in Illinois. William once farmed in Iowa, later returning to Illinois. George and Emily Brandow had the following children: William, Ozias, George, May (married name Parish), and Alvina (married name Mathis). Would like to connect with other Brandow relatives or anyone knowing family information.
Posted on: BUTCHER Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/surnames/b/u/BUTCHER/queries/32 Surname: Butcher ------------------------- James & Isaac Butcher were early settlers in Montgomery (later Bath) Co., Kentucky. From early tax lists, there appear to be 4 brothers present - James, Isaac, George and Samuel, Jr. - indicating their father was Samuel, Sr. (also present on the tax lists in the early 1790's). Has anyone found other documents that support or expand on this information? James Butcher was b c1774 and Isaac was b c1776 in Virginia. The name Samuel was very common in the early Butcher's of Loudoun Co., Virginia. Link: My Genealogy Page URL: <http://www.geocities.com/mvanbaaren>

SMITH, b. 1871 in Sterling, Wayne Co., PA is that they later lived in Panther, Green Township, Pike Co., PA, so that may be where he was from originally. Both places are in the northeast corner of the state. We know that's not much, but it's all we've been able to unearth thus far! Thanks for your response and effort! the Smith family Link: McDevitt/Smith Family of Sterling, PA URL: <http://community-2.webtv.net/ncdickey/SMITHMUNROCARY/index.html>
Hey People of the Butcher lines, Check out this site please ands see if we are related... Roxanne Butcher
Sandy, Does your Butcher information contain anything about a William Butcher who was in the 1840 and 1850 census in Decatur Co IN? His wife was gone by the 1850 census but still at home were children Margaret R, Catherine, William and Eliza Jane. From the 1840 census I think there may have been an older son Moses, and two other daughters. The death certificate for Margaret (my GGrandmother who married James H. Ray in Decatur Co and homesteaded in Bourbon Co KS) stated her mother was Christena Hildebrand. The closest we can come to a marriage is a William Butcher married a Christena Abernathy in Switzerland Co IN, and we find a court allowance in Decatur Co to a William Butcher for money for a Phoebe Abernathy--which could mean the marriage of William Butcher and Christena Abernathy could be a second marriage for Christena. There is a marker in Mt. Carmel Cem in Decatur Co which states--Wm. Butcher, US Soldier, War of 1812. The county history says he was in the Battle of River Raisen, but I haven't been able to find any military record that matches. Any help appreciated. Marian
