Hi All I have just found out that my G Grandmother was Lavinia Bushell. She was married 23 February 1895, aged 23, to William John Hodgson in the Wesley Chapel in York, England. I always knew her first name was Lavinia and that she was born 3 February 1875, but until I got her marriage certificate from the GRO I didn't know what her maiden name was. The marriage certificate lists her father as Harry Bushell, Agricultural Implement Maker. I cannot find Lavinia Bushell in the St Catherine's House index of BMD for the first or second quarter of 1875. I also have a problem in that I cannot find Lavinia Bushell in the 1881 census when she should have been aged 6. There is one Bushell family in York in 1881 but this Bushell family appears to have a Lavinia in it already . I am making this assumption as they are the only Bushells in the 1881 census to be born in York. Lavinia, age 21 ( the only Lavinia Bushell in the 1881 census index), Cassandra age 16 and Bernhard age 14. Is anyone else researching this family? Any help with this would be appreciated.
