    1. [Busch] Important Message From The Board Administrator
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Busch Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/VEH.2ACIB/282 Message Board Post: Hello, I will try to be as brief as possible, as to not take up too much of your time. I have had some complaints concerning the" titles" of the messages posted to this message board, which leave no clue as to the content of the message inside. When I post a message, I try to at least include the person's "full name" in the title, as I find it is more eye catching, and I have had much better luck that way. Yes, we want to be brief, but other researchers won't even look at your message half the time, if the title is non-specific, as it is too time consuming to do so. So I have some friendly advice that I think will help everyone in their family research. If you include the person's full name, and perhaps their date & place of birth in the title of your message, not only will it help other family researchers, but it will also be more helpful in finding your answers. I am not saying your title should be a mile long, but give enough information, abbreviating where possible, so that other researchers know what the content of your message concerns. For example, a title that simply reads, "family", or "looking for mom", is non-specific. On the other hand, if your title reads, "Annabelle J. Thompson, b. 12/5/75, Berkeley C! o., WV" someone may recognize the name and respond. What you ultimately decide to do is entirely up to you, this is only some gentle advice, but I spend an awful lot of time trying to help you by editing and adding more information to your titles, so that you will find the information you are looking for. I mange over twenty boards, and you can help me, by being more specific in the titles of your messages. I know that many of you do not read the Links and Announcements on message boards, but you should, as they contain important information (i.e. the board administrator's name & guidelines, if any, for that particular board. For instance, on my boards, titles/ message that are posted in all capital letters will be removed from my boards without notice. Why? Well, beside the fact that it is totally obnoxious. Everyone's message is just as important as the next person's ...and there is no need to shout. Another word of advise, preview your message before you actually post it, because, although I can edit the title, I cannot edit the body of the message. So yes, if you find you have a typo in your message "title" after you have posted it, you can email me, and I will be happy to change, or correct the title for you. If you do, include the link to your message, as some boards have over a thousand entries. I can also delete old messages for you ... at your request. As long as you c! an prove that they are your messages. It is best that you email me from whatever email you use for Rootsweb, as it can be used as a basis for comparison. Thank you all for your time, and I wish everyone success in their family research. Some simple words of wisdom before I go. Be kind to one another, we are family. Best Regards, S.M.
