My BUSCH ancestors, Michael, Cunigunde, and son, Johan (John) left home in Vorbach, Oberpfalz, Bayern (Bavaria) Germany in 1846. Family lore says that they were abord ship for three months encountering many storms. The ship was so storm damaged that it put in at Quebec, Canada, unable to continue to NYC. They traveled via river, lake then overland to St.Marys,PA. It was not at all the thriving German settlement that they were told, only a few cabins along a creek. No shelters for them as they expected. But, they hung on and built a home, established a farm and raised a family. Should you know of them, or others who may have set out with them, maybe settling in Canada, I would like to hear from you! Regards, Carl
